Nintendo Co., Ltd. is a Japanese gaming company founded on September 23, 1889 by Fusajiro Yamauchi that has since progressed into a well-known video gaming company. It is most famous for its works of the Mario and The Legend of Zelda video game franchises. Nintendo had owned Rare up until 2002, where Rare had been bought out by Microsoft, becoming part of its Microsoft Game Studios branch. Nintendo are one of the video game companies big enough to produce their own consoles, and have been doing so since 1977 (1974 if you include the distribution rights they possessed over the Japanese distribution of the Magnavox Odyssey).
